Andrew - Viola/Violin

Andrew joined the quartet when its founding violist, Bruce Taylor, left to pursue other musical activities. Andrew grew up in Cleveland and played in the Cleveland Youth Orchestra under Edwin Raymond. He now lives in County Durham and teaches at a primary school there. He teaches French and Music as well as conducting the 50 strong school orchestra and working with the choir and singing group. Before venturing into the classroom, he worked as a peripatetic violin and viola teacher for Redcar & Cleveland and County Durham. He holds diplomas in Viola Performance, Viola Teaching and a post-graduate qualification in Education and is currently working on an MA in Music in Education. He plays regularly in local orchestras and has played in Germany, Austria and Greece. Andrew is a founder member of the English Viola Society. When not involved in music he is a keen cyclist (sometime racer!) and photographer, holding a diploma from the Royal Photographic Society.

Andrew plays a viola made in Manchester in 2007 by Helen Michetschlager.
